Elaine Bruckner, Ph.D.

Dr. Elaine Bruckner received her B.A. in biopsychology from Lafayette College. She earned her masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Health Sciences, The Chicago Medical School, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship in cognitive therapy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Cognitive Therapy. 

She has co-authored a chapter on the environmental influences on obesity and has made several presentations at national conferences in the area of health promotion and disease prevention.

Dr. Bruckner specializes in cognitive therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, weight management, and health-related issues. She is a clinical associate at Bowling Green State University and has staff privileges at Wood County Hospital.

Ellen Greene Bush, Ph.D.

Dr. Bush specializes in health psychology, including work with patients coping with chronic illness and psycho-physiological disorders such as headache, hypertension, and chronic pain. She practices several relaxation and biofeedback techniques for stress management. Dr. Bush is also interested in the assessment and treatment of women's issues, including depression anxiety, relationship difficulties, and sexual dysfunctions.

Dr. Bush holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University, and an M.S. in nursing from The Ohio State University. She completed her internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and postdoctoral work at The University of Toledo and the Medical College of Ohio.

Robert Muehleisen, Ph.D.

Dr. Muehleisen specializes in the treatment of adolescents and adults with a focus on family and marital therapy. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University in 1976, and has been in private practice since 1978.

Dr. Muehleisen is an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Psychology at Bowling Green State University, where he has taught marital and family psychotherapy, and supervises doctoral students. He is also trained in divorce mediation and is an Advanced Practitioner Mediator in the Association for Conflict Resolution.

Dr. Muehleisen is a past-president of the Northwest Ohio Society of Professional Psychology, a board member of the Mediation Association of Northwest Ohio, and  has served as Chair of the Committee on Ethical Practices of the Ohio Psychological Association. He is on staff at a number of area hospitals.

Eric R. Nicely, Ph.D.

Dr. Nicely works with children, adolescents and adults, and specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, adjustment, and marital problems, health psychology and chemical dependency. He also is experienced in forensic evaluations, divorce mediation, and ADHD assessment.

Dr. Nicely earned his Ph.D. in Counseling and Clinical Psychology from the University of Toledo, and completed his internship at The Toledo Hospital. He founded the Wood County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, and for five years was the Program Director for the Alcoholism Treatment Center at The Toledo Hospital. He has also been a trustee of the Ohio Chemical Dependency Counselors Credentialing Board.

Dr. Nicely has been in private practice since 1988, and continues to consult at a number of agencies in Northwest Ohio. He is on staff at Wood County Hospital, St. Vincent Medical Center, and St. Luke's Hospital.

Marlys J. Reetz, Ph.D

Dr. Reetz has areas of expertise in depression and other affective disorders, marital therapy, eating disorders, sexual identification issues, stress reduction, psychological trauma, and grief. She works with adolescents, adults, and families in transition.

For sixteen years, Dr. Reetz was associated with the Wood County Mental Health Clinic. For ten of these years, she was Director of Outpatient Services. She is a part-time Associate Professor of Psychology at Bowling Green State University. She is on staff at Wood County Hospital.

Dr. Reetz earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from BGSU and completed her internship at The Ohio State University Medical School competing rotations in adult and child psychiatric medicine.

Patricia Shawberry, M.D.

Dr. Shawberry received her M.D. degree from the Medical College of Ohio, and completed her Residency in Adult Psychiatry at the same institution. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  Dr. Shawberry has been the recipient of several awards for leadership and clinical care at MCO, and has been recognized for service in the Omega Phi Alpha sorority and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

In addition to her practice with PRL, Dr. Shawberry serves as consulting psychiatrist at Century Health, Inc. in Findlay, Ohio.  She is on staff at Wood County Hospital.

Suzanne L. Smitley, Ph.D.

Dr. Smitley specializes in work with children and their families. She also works extensively in adult and marital therapy. Dr. Smitley earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toledo and completed her internship at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Smitley has been in private practice since 1987 and is a past board member of the Mental Health Association of Lucas County. She is a part-time Associate Professor of Psychology at Bowling Green State University where she supervises graduate students. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Smitley is on staff at Flower Hospital, The Toledo Hospital, and Toledo Children's Hospital.
